CKU: Day 3 (friday)

so back to my CKU adventures....so on friday morning...I pulled myself out of bed...(barely)

even though I was extremly excited to be taking Ali Edward's Evolution's Album track class I have to be honest, I could have skipped it and been ok :D lol...BUT I am really glad I didn't...it was awesome! I was just SOO tired....

so I pulled myself out bed (my mom was already out of bed, not sure how she did it, she was up before me and worked harder then me)....

My mom got to be the TA for a great lady, Brandon Brazel from Piggy Tales (awesome, cute product also)...mom had a lot of fun in that class....

so we get to our class...and we each get a huge box full of stuff....

here we are with our box o' goodies

Ali E. gives us a little talk and overview and off to work we go...I have to say the process of "picking" photos was fun. My subject was my mom, so I got to pick photos with her and it was nice to her stories...and where her photos were from....The album is based on the beginning, the middle and the present (in a sense)...so the pictures I have are a 'working" album as my mom has to finish the journaling (so mom if you are reading, hope you are finishing it)

there are 'journaling' pockets on the left side of some of the chipboard pages

here are the pictures of her beautiful album....
here is the "beginning" of the album... her life as a child

The "middle" section....after my mom has graduated high school...

and the "present" section...as her life now....

I ended with one of her favorite photos.. and what a better way to end then a nice autographed page by Ali E. and her infamous words "capture life"....
We got our gorgerous works of creativity signed by Ali E.

I learned alot from her throughtout the weekend...she was also the keynote speaker...she talked about capturing YOU....and saying Hello Mirror...where before I would have never done this...but here goes...

hello mirror

after her great class and a little Sammy's burgers for dinner we were off for another great night of cropping....and a few photo opps under the great C K U banners....

CKU:Day 2 (thursday)

first thing first....as I sat down to write and get my pictures ready for this post, I realized I have none of this day...NOT one.....

sorry!!!

maybe I will add more later, once heather posts her pictures.... (there are some pictures, not many, but Heather had some...man we must have been busy this day)

so onto Day 2 of CKU.....this would be Day one (really of CKU).... (My day one, wednesday, was a pre-registartion and sneek peek)...so day two.....was a very fast paced day. It was called Inspirations Stations....In the past CKUs the students would move and go to classes...this time the teachers moved....it was great.

from 9-3.....We got to make 8 two page layouts...we made a neat little 6x6 album...came home and added pictures to it.....I will take pictures of it tomorrow....

we still had time to get a little chit chat time with the inspiration leaders :D lol....and some "groupie" time (as Heather puts it)

as me and Heather were in class my mom was a teacher assistance in one of the classes. She helped Brittnay Beattie with one of the classes...so my mom helped in packing up the supplies, moving them to the next classes, unpacking them, handing them out and packing them up again...whew I am tired just writing that.....so she worked very hard....

after that, we had some dinner and relaxation and then we were off to the the Kick off bash!!!

wow, did CK go all out for this, pom poms in all...we got another goodie bag, a 11x8.5 (lisa bearson) album and a 2page kit to do @ the crop (afterwards)....

@ the kick off bash, the 3 dorms performs....some very cute perfomances...(loved the scrappin' bees) ....they had changed all the words (to scrapbooking related words) to the song Girls Just Wanna Have Fun...I will post them later (when I can find them amongst the mess in my mess, lol)

once again it was a long day/night and we called it a night about midnight and off to the room to pack up the goodies for the next day.........

more to come tomorrow.......................

CKU!!! Day 1 (wednesday)

first I have to say I am exhausted...so I might not make too much sense, so excuse my grammer and spelling :D lol

but I wanted to get some of my experiences and pictures on my blog to share with everyone....

well last tuesday the 5th..me and my mom set out on a road trip to Utah...that wasn't fun in itself. first, it was a long, long drive. and the mountains of Utah may be pretty in the daytime, but @ night and driving 'blindly' its not fun. OOO and if you throw in some rain (and more rain) its really not fun. SO our 9.5 hr trip took us nearly 12 hours, because I pulled over to sleep, becuase I was WAY tired to be a safe driver in the rain...did I mention it rained!!!

well we finally got to Utah and well i didn't exactly map out the "shopping" trip right...so we didn't hit as many scrapbooking stores as I would have liked but I still had fun.....and enjoyed the stores we did visit...Achivers, Pebbles in my Pocket, and I think another one (but can't rmember right now)

next off to provo to check into our hotel (they were nice enough to let us check in early) which I was glad, cause I was tired and wanted to shower and relax. and i knew my mom was too. and she had to work (she volunteered the entire time @ CKU)....what a trooper, that is hard work...

so she went to "work" @ like 4ish and I did nothing...until 4:30 (pre registeration).....we got a great goodie bag...and mom worked the registeration "booth" and she said there were over 450 students registered (crazy huh)....us crazy scrapbookers!!!

so since she is still working I went upstairs and went thru my goodies.....and read my handout...and it says to "mark" our bags to not confuse them with others....so I did!!! I "stickled" it!!!

Then down I went to the "meet n greet, sneek peek" got to see some new product and chit-chat with some the great minds...Ali Edwards was the keynote speaker @ CKU and OMGosh...she is amazing....truly! she is inspiring! thank you!!! I learned so VERY much from her, I was one of the lucky ones to get into her Evolution Album class and wowza...it came out great!!! (I'll show more later)

some really great new product coming out........I did see the new Slice (making memories)...whoo hoo gotta get one of those!!! (they gave a few away, of course I didn't win one, thats another story) and they aren't even out yet....

here is a demo...if you are interested!!!

after that...we went to the 2008 Scrapbooker of the Year banquet! where the crown the queen of the crop! of sorts...

there were some some great scrapbookers nominated....

there was also serving some yummy brownies and some great taffy, I guess its a Utah thing :D lol, according to my new friend at the crop following the banquet....

here are the finalists:

2008 Scrapbooker of the Year finalists, pictured from

left to right: Shelley Aldrich, Deena Wuest, Mandy Douglass (winner), Lea Lawson and Mou Saha.

and a picture of the winner...she gets...a two-year contract with Creating Keepsakes, incredible prize packages from Sizzix and Wassau Paper, and a $10,000 cash award

ok...so that is my first day of CKU....and it was exhausting...I'll write more tomorrow...off to bed....
